Two Taiwanese citizens have been detained in a Gold Coast home after being detained for an alleged virtual phishing scam involving more than 1.7 million false text messages.

Two SIM containers and SIM cards, according to the Keto Xplode Test officers, were discovered at a Southport home on March 23 when they carried out a search warrant.

Following studies, a man and woman, both grown 37 years old, were arrested at the apartment on April 18.

More than 1.7 million fraud communications were used, according to police, using the SIM containers.

Police allege that the containers were used to send out phony connections to fictitious websites to steal cash and identity information.
